  • I incorporate local history, natural surroundings, and urban landscapes to tell stories on tile murals and porcelain wares. My objectives are to combine photographs, text and drawings and then collage into a meaningful story. I am interested in how the printed line looks glazed and fired as it creates a deeply integrated image. I like to delve into the mystery of nature’s lines, from tide pools and seaweed to twisted brambles, tree limbs, reflections, and shadows, as well as man-made environment’s imperfections and iconic language. I welcome the challenge of capturing what I see in the world and interpreting it in novel and creative ways.

  • Laura has recently installed a public art commission for the City of Redmond!

During SPOTLIGHT NORTH, Laura will display a step-by-step visual guide of the image transfer process she uses to create her ceramic wares.

  • her process of using screen printing to transfer photographic images onto clay or the pinhole photographic imagery she works in!
