My work in ceramics reflects my interest in natural forms and structure, deliquescence, collapse, weight, and subtle variations of surface and color. I work in mid-range stoneware and porcelain and use underglazes and glazes. I enjoy both hand building and wheel-throwing and make both utilitarian vessels and dinnerware and sculptures. I am inspired by traditional and contemporary masters and especially Japanese and Korean studio artists. I trained as a painter and printmaker and have come to clay more recently in my career.
