My creative practice centers on paintings and terracotta relief sculptures that explore the intersection of mythology, migration, and cultural identity. I often draw inspiration from literature, music, poetry, lyrics, conversation, and the natural world—both physical and emotional. Forests, rivers, seasonal shifts, birds, and animals all find their way into my work as both symbolic and observational elements. Through these motifs, I merge the everyday with the mythic, creating spaces where personal memory, ancestral traditions, and contemporary life intersect. My work seeks to bridge ancient storytelling traditions with present-day experiences.

Shruti received her Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting from the New York Studio School and an M.S. in Color Technology from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, India. With an interdisciplinary background spanning both science and art, she believes that crossing boundaries between disciplines can open new ways of seeing and understanding the world. Born and raised in India, and currently living and working in Shoreline, Washington, Shruti's work is inspired by everyday life experiences, conversations, personal and collective memory. Themes of displacement, belonging, and identity take center stage in her practice as she explores the role of ancient mythologies and memory in contemporary life through painting and relief sculpture.
She is an active practitioner and educator; her work has been featured in exhibitions and media coverage nationally and internationally. Her practice continues to expand across painting, sculpture, and installation, inviting audiences into spaces where myth, material, and lived experience converge. She teaches at South Seattle College, Pratt Fine Arts, and independently from her studio. Shruti is represented by Gallery 110 in Seattle.
